October 2008 ALS Accreditation & Equivalency Test Passers


The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced yesterday that 1,384 out of 2,463 passed the various grades of the written phase of the Marine Engineer Officers Licensure Examinations given by the Board for Marine Engineer Officers in Manila this September, 2008.

The successful examinees who garnered the 10 highest places in the Chief Engineer Licensure Examination (Written Phase) are as follows:

Gerardo Tibor Ramirez, Philippine Merchant Marine Academy, 85.75 percent, Jackson Morales Lestino, Philippine Merchant Marine Academy, 84.75 percent, Terence Onni Baraclan Enecio, University of Cebu and August Mendoza Salazar, Philippine Merchant Marine Academy, 84.25 percent, Alexander Ateo-an Bogsulen, Jr., St. Louis University and Rico Magcaling Cruz, Philippine Merchant Marine Academy, 83.75.

On the Board of Marine Engineer Officers which administered the examination are Engr. Jose G. Abugan, Chairman; Engr. Miguel O. Marasigan, Vice-Chairman; Engr. Victoriano A. Alojado, Engr. Ferdinand R. Pascua an Engr. Eldefonso G. Uba, Members.

Registration for the issuance of Certificate of Registration and Professional Identification Cards for those who are exempted in the practical assessment at the Central and Regional Offices will start on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008 until Oct. 9, 2008.

In addition, the PRC also announced that 108 out of 125 examinees passed the computer based Walk-in-Examination System – Theoretical Phase for the Officer In Charge - E.W. that was held from July 24 to Sept. 16, 2008.

The oathtaking ceremony of the successful examinees as well as the previous ones who have not taken their Oath of Professional and those who opted to submit ERS Assessment Certificates will be held before the Board on Friday, Oct. 31, 2008 at 1 p.m. at the Manila Hotel, One Rizal Park, Manila.

Registration for membership with the Marine Engineer Officers Association of the Philippines (MEOAP) will start after registration as a professional with the board and the Commission.
