FORT DEL PILAR, Baguio City-The Philippine Military Academy (PMA) released the names of 810 examinees who passed the PMA entrance examinations conducted last August 26 in 29 examination centers nationwide.
Major General Leopoldo L. Maligalig, PMA Superintendent, said that 4,999 young men and women qualified to take the entrance exam. About 16 percent passed the written examinations, which is only the first stage of a highly competitive screening process for cadetship at PMA.185 or 22.8 percent of the passers are female applicants.
The successful examinees will now undergo a complete medical and physical examinations, neuro-psychiatric examinations, a rigid physical fitness test and an interview by a panel of PMA officers which will start on the second week of October 2007. It will be conducted at the AFP Medical Center in Quezon City. Mindanao and Visayas-based candidates will undergo medical examinations in selected cities in the South.
The 810 candidates will be vying for about 300 slots for cadetship that will compose the PMA Class of 2012. These young men and women are competing for a four-year full-government scholarship that would enable them to earn a Bachelor of Science degree and a commission to the regular force of the Armed Forces of the Philippines as second lieutenants and ensigns after graduation.
The Office of Cadet Admissions in PMA will be sending these 810 successful examinees their official notification by mail or by telegram shortly. This notice will advise the candidates on the scheduled dates and other instructions for their physical and medical examinations.
